Assistant pastor, with responsibility for discipleship and all the teaching aspects of the church.
The Cristo Luz del Mundo church (Christ, Light of the World) in Santa Cruz has been through three changes of pastor in just three years, and we currently have a part-time senior pastor. He has the overall leadership role but is unable to cover all ministry needs, so I was appointed to take on the other work as required.
Within my role as assistant pastor I organise the Sunday service, and church discipleship. I also have teaching role for Bible studies courses and other groups (church youth, university students, young professionals).

Franklin’s story
I am from a city in the south of Bolivia (Cochabamba) where I spent almost all my life and attended school and university, where I qualified as an orthodontist. In spite of having attended church with my mother as a child I had no real interest in the Christian faith, until my second year at university.
As I became more interested in knowing about Jesus, I grew in faith and the desire that everyone should know him became very important to me. The church suggested the possibility of me studying theology at the CEP seminary in Santiago, Chile and I started the course. Unfortunately I had to give it up for three years, due to lack of available funding. Eventually I was able to complete the course and gave up my profession to prepare for service in the church.
It is a great blessing to be part of the Church Mission Society programme and it is an important part of my ministry. The Anglican Church in Bolivia is still not able to support the cost of a full-time pastor.
