More about our work
Due to gang violence, corruption and poverty, as many as 46 per cent of Honduran young people want to migrate to the US. These children and young people on the edges have experienced trauma in the home and have little to no resources or opportunities to rise above their circumstances. They feel abandoned to make a life for themselves and seek belonging in the only place they can think of – the street.
In partnership with UK charity Street Kids Direct and working alongside World Gospel Mission, we support local projects to help develop prevention, intervention and rehabilitation programmes for these at-risk children and young people.
Our work involves many things, from creating safeguarding and other policies, launching mentoring programmes, to establishing cultures of prayer and worship, and creating safe spaces for young people to grow and transition into adulthood.
Honduras is a challenging place to live and work, particularly due to high political tensions and gang warfare. However, God’s light often shines the brightest in the darkest places. The children and young people we work with are often living the darkest of lives but together we can bring transformational light to individuals and to a nation.
Our story
Lindsey and Steve met in Honduras in 2017, got married in the summer of 2021 and are excited to live out God’s calling on their life together.
Lindsey originally moved to Honduras from the US in 2013 to teach primary school at a bilingual international school. After three years, she felt the Lord calling her to step out into full-time mission work with projects creating places of belonging for at-risk young people via intentional relationships and spaces of hospitality, particularly coffee shops.
Steve is from Amersham, Buckinghamshire, and since his first visit to Honduras in 2009, knew he’d be called to live there at some point. After serving as a youth worker at St Mary’s Church in Amersham for six years and getting a degree in youth work, communities and practical theology at the Institute for Children, Youth and Mission, he followed his call through Church Mission Society to work with Street Kids Direct in Honduras.
