South West Pioneering Hub
The Southwest Hub is a partnership between three dioceses: Bath and Wells, Salisbury and Truro.
It is the only CMS Hub to offer a module in rural pioneering, which takes place mainly outdoors on farmland or campsites, savouring the glorious local landscape.
A partnership between
The South West Hub started in Bath and Wells in 2019 and grew through relational networks.
We have six values: honesty, vulnerability, playfulness, welcoming diversity, supportiveness and openness to change.

Courses on offer
CMS Certificate in Pioneer Mission
The CMS Certificate course runs in hybrid fashion.
Of six modules, two are currently held with everyone together in person, one module is fully online and three are hybrid with each diocesan group gathering onsite together in a central location (eg Salisbury, Truro, Wells) and joining the other diocesan groups via Zoom.
Some travel will be involved, eg, from Poole to central Somerset, or from Yeovil to Looe.
Course leaders are experienced practitioners as well as established speakers and writers on pioneer mission.

“During my training as a pioneer, I have wondered where all this will lead me? what does the Holy Spirit want from me? Step by step it has led me through the streets, cafes, and houses where immigrants meet.
“Today I find myself helping dozens of asylum seekers and migrants legally and pastorally. Many of them have accompanied me to church. With many of them, we have prayed together. Step by step the Spirit has helped me to meet other Christians and other faiths who also have a calling (ministry) to help asylum seekers and refugees, helping me not to feel alone in this work.
“This pioneering journey is transformative, organic, alive and beating to the rhythm of God’s heart. All praise belongs to him.”
