Coming alongside and training groups in local communities, especially families and leaders
Uruguayan culture is dominated by secular worldviews and the church in Uruguay is vulnerable, making innovative mission and drawing communities together crucial.
I am joining in the mission of the church by equipping and encouraging local people as they step out in their communities, seeking to discern and meet local needs, building friendships and sharing Jesus’ love with people.
In addition to coming alongside others, I am training facilitators for the Mothers’ Union parenting course in the Anglican Province of South America.

Mechi’s story
In my youth, I trained as a nun and worked with groups of young people and as a teacher.
Then, working more with families, I continued my development work in shanty towns in the south of Buenos Aires. When I joined the Anglican Communion in 2001, I was developing various programmes, contributing, among other things, my training in counselling and personal development.
As part of a missionary link with the Diocese of the North of Argentina where we served in the Wichí, Toba and Chorote communities, I trained as a facilitator and then as a coach in connection with the Mothers’ Union Parent Course programme.
In this last decade I worked intensely as a counsellor until September of 2018, when I again heard, together with my husband, Jesus’ invitation to follow him, in another way and to new horizons, beyond the borders of our country, this time to Uruguay.
Being part of CMS means being part of a family, where I know that I am supported, loved and not isolated. CMS makes it possible to do mission in the community from a broader perspective.
