CMS Summer Appeal 2025

Pressure is growing but he’s not giving up.
Will you stand with Christians like Oman in Nepal?

Many Christians in Nepal are living the reality of Jesus’ words in the Sermon on the Mount:

“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.” (Matthew 5:11)

Christians face increasing opposition, restrictions and discrimination – sometimes even public shaming.

Church Mission Society exists to make disciples of people at the edges. Our call is to follow Jesus to the edges where faith in him makes people outsiders. One of these edges is Nepal, where Christians are in a minority and face increasing persecution. You can help to provide the solidarity and support struggling Christians need.

Oman, a church leader in Nepal, was confronted by an angry mob after church one Sunday:

“…300 people came with the intent of beating me and smearing me with ink…”

In Oman’s culture, throwing or smearing black ink on someone is meant to publicly humiliate them – it is the ultimate mark of an outsider.

Oman can’t face this pressure alone – nor should he have to. Today, will you support brothers and sisters like Oman, who are paying a high price for being a Christian?

What do Christians in Nepal need?

Two things help Oman and others like him stay strong in their faith: leadership training and pastoral support. You can make sure he and others continue to keep their faith alive, despite increasing opposition.

Oman says: “The Bible says that if you want to be a disciple, there’s a cost involved. Sometimes there might be doubt, but I recognise that God is there in the midst of these things. Jesus is alive. He will never give up. I also will not give up.”

Will you join Oman in not giving up? Your gift today could:

  • Encourage people like Oman who are paying a high price for their faith
  • Equip leaders to make disciples where there is immense pressure to give up
  • Provide essential training for hundreds of pastors around the world
