Dr Nuam Hatzaw

Nuam is an MA lecturer with CMS on the Asian Christianity route through the MA in Theology, Ministry and Mission.

Nuam belongs to the Zomi people, a predominantly Christian ethnic minority group found primarily in Chin State, north-west Myanmar. She was born in Chin State but has spent most of her life in the UK.

Nuam did her BA in Social Anthropology and Development Studies at SOAS, University of London, and her MTh in World Christianity at the University of Edinburgh.

An interdisciplinary scholar with training in qualitative research methods and frameworks, her research interests include World Christianity, Asian theology, postcolonial feminist theology, Myanmar studies, social anthropology, and migration and diaspora studies.

She is co-host of the podcast Voices of World Christianity and serves as mentor and consultant for the Chin State Academic Research Network, a non-profit dedicated to promoting education and research in and from the region.

Dr Tyler Horton

Tyler works with SIM UK and is a Research Fellow with the Acts 11 Project. His work is focused on providing biblical and theological resources for the church related to migration and mission.

Tyler has a PhD in Biblical Studies (University of Cambridge) and works with SIM in the UK.

His academic research concentrates on the Ancient Greek translations of the Hebrew Old Testament (called the Septuagint), and especially on the idea of “spirit” in these texts. The Septuagint represents a crucial intersection where Scripture crosses both linguistic and cultural boundaries. As such, it provides an ancient exemplar of the challenges that the Church continues to face as the good news of Jesus takes root in a variety of cultures.

Tyler is a Research Fellow (part time) with the Acts 11 Project. His focus is on providing biblical and theological resources for the church which will help equip us to face the challenges and make the most of the opportunities that migration provides for mission.

Tyler is a Canadian, living in the UK since 2019 with his wife and three children.
