Be surprised by what you can achieve

Quite a few of our students tell us they didn’t feel academic, yet they complete their Durham University validated award with us! If you feel you’ve never been academic, you may be surprised by what you can achieve.

Students don’t just work towards a university award; they get so much more! We offer a community to learn from, concrete ideas and practices to revitalise your mission, a sense of achievement, and affirmation. One second year student said, “I was told, at induction, that CMS wanted to hear my voice within my work. I remembered being taken aback, and thinking, ‘How wonderful!’ What’s far more wonderful is that it was true. CMS nurtures voices, so to speak. I value that enormously. It’s so affirming – priceless, in fact.”

Study online from anywhere in the world

We offer anything from a one-year Certificate to an MA which is validated by Durham University. Study in person in Oxford or online from anywhere in the world. Final Year MA student, Petra de Jong-Heins, studies remotely from the Netherlands and says: “I remember saying at the start of the three-year Master’s programme: ‘It gives me such a spark of joy to be studying at CMS!’ Guess what? I’m writing my dissertation at the moment and that spark is still there! This study is such a joy and adventure. But above all: I thank God for all the blessings He gave me through this study and all the beautiful people I met.”

Focus your under graduate learning on the pioneer approach to mission, Children and Families ministry, or youth work. Those who study on the MA will learn through the lens of pioneering mission as well as African Christianity and Asian Christianity. CMS also offers a doctorate of theology (awarded by the University of Roehampton).

Exploring your calling?

If you are considering training for ordination in the Church of England, you can train with CMS, through our partnership with Ripon College Cuddesdon. While we are well known for pioneer training, our programme is open to all ordinands not just those with a pioneer designation. Those who train with us value the contextual and practical approach we offer.

Don’t let this chance pass you by, book your place on at an open event now.
