A hunger for Jesus
Right now, there is a great hunger for Jesus in the Middle East. In response, women like Mariam* are stepping out in faith.
Following Jesus cost Mariam all she had – her husband tore up her Bible, beat her and took her children away.
Not long after, a CMS partner saw Mariam’s potential and invited her to take part in mission training. This training equipped Mariam to share her faith with others, to respond to people’s questions about Jesus and nurture the faith of new believers.
The harvest is plentiful
Today, Mariam leads a group of more than 80 women who have turned to Jesus and need someone to guide them in their faith.

There are many women like Mariam who are reaching out to hundreds of others across the Middle East – but many more are needed. With your support, many more women can receive the training they need to share the gospel and make disciples at this crucial time.
UPDATE: “Thousands are hungry for Jesus”
I’ve just returned from the Middle East, where – despite conflict and hardship – I’ve seen God moving in remarkable ways.
The missionaries we support are run off their feet – answering people’s questions, helping them study the Bible and encouraging new believers in their faith. Praise God!
At the heart of this movement are courageous women serving in some of the region’s most challenging places.
S* told me she is actually thankful she became a refugee from Syria: “If I didn’t have to flee my home, I might never have met Jesus.” Today, she serves in a local church, helping children discover Jesus’ love.
At this time of year I think of my birthplace, Bethlehem, and of Mary, a humble woman through whom God brought light into the world. Today, women across the Middle East still carry that light into their communities.
