How Jesus changed the lives of two young men on the edges in Honduras

Two young men in Honduras are defying expectations as they start new chapters away from the dangers of street-connected life.

Ever, who has been mentored by mission partner Steve Poulson for over six years, chose to join the police. He had come to faith in Jesus at Proyecto Alas, where Lindsey and Steve Poulson support children and young people at risk. Ever is working to be a light amid corruption in the police and has worked his way up the ranks to a specialised squad.

Last year, Ever became a father to a baby girl, Violet. He is committed to be a faithful presence in her life and is having a house built with his savings.

Lindsey and Steve share, “We are overwhelmed at the gift of seeing the cycle of poverty and street life truly broken in this family – Violet will have a very different childhood to her father!”

Sergio grew up on the streets in Guatemala and was addicted to various substances. He got connected to Street Kids Direct Guatemala, a partner project of Proyecto Alas, and through mentoring, rehab and lots of prayer, he found Jesus and his life was transformed.

After working as a chef and youth worker in Guatemala for two years, this year he said yes to the Lord’s call to serve as a mission worker in Honduras. He will work at Proyecto Alas, where his testimony and his giftings can have an impact on the lives of the young people there.
