Bolivia: political dispute
A long-running rivalry between former president Evo Morales and current president Luis Arce is causing significant issues across Bolivia. A recent incident involving gunshots was reported by Morales as an assassination attempt, but the current government has said his vehicle was fleeing a routine anti-drug trafficking checkpoint and fired first. Supporters from both factions are involved in protests and there have been blockades of major highways in the country by supporters of Morales, causing shortages of food and fuel. Please pray for a peaceful and lasting resolution to the dispute and for Bolivia to flourish.
Remember too in prayer CMS’s mission partners in Bolivia, Andrew and Lisa Peart with Liliana and Anayah. Having recently all visited the UK together, Lisa and Anayah have now returned to Bolivia, while Liliana is staying in the UK for a year and Andrew is currently finishing off visits with supporters.
Please also pray for the witness of the Church in Bolivia in this context and for local partners Bishop Walter Toro and Rev Franklin Cuenca in their ministries in leadership of the Anglican Church of Bolivia.
