DR Congo: capture of Masisi town

DR Congo: capture of Masisi town

Last weekend, Rwandan-backed M23 rebels took the town of Masisi west of Goma and installed their own governor. Since then more than 100,000 people have fled. The Congolese government recaptured the town on Wednesday, but those who fled are unlikely to return for a long time and those who stay are at increasing risk of losing their lives and livelihoods. However, in the parts of Masisi territory where there is relative peace, churches continue to grow. Mission partner Martin Gordon, Bishop of Goma, shares that there were more than 60 baptisms on Christmas Day in one of the parishes. Please pray for pastors to lead with courage and compassion. Pray for political leaders to work together toward reconciliation and for peace to come to the region.
