DR Congo: ongoing critical situation
“It is now more than four months since M23 rebels took the city of Goma with the help of the Rwandan army,” writes mission partner and Bishop of Goma, Martin Gordon. We give thanks for CMS supporters’ generous response to our emergency appeal for DR Congo, which has made it possible to reach 10,000 victims of violence.
Despite fewer reports of kidnappings, fewer shots fired at night and fewer arbitrary beatings, the situation in Goma remains critical. Pray for all those who are struggling with everyday life, who are living under the weight of trauma from what they have seen and heard, and for those who can’t see a way forward. Pray for those involved in peace negotiations to have the right words to say at the right time so that the peace process can move forward.
