South Sudan: violence
Nicci Maxwell, a mission partner providing paediatric and neonatal medical care in Juba, writes, “Following the killing of a number of South Sudanese nationals in Wad Madani (Sudan) last week, there have been retaliatory attacks on Sudanese homes and businesses in Juba and several other cities. Sudanese families, many of whom have been living in Juba for decades, fled to military bases and police stations for safety and remain afraid to return home. They are now being relocated to a nearby refugee camp where I work. Over one million people have crossed into South Sudan since the war in Sudan began in 2023, placing huge pressure on local communities and resources. Please pray for order to be restored, for all who find themselves displaced by the current violence and for a lasting peace in South Sudan.”
