We have never seen such heavy rain and the flooding has been devastating here in Olinda. Our church, O Farol, works closely with a community called V8 which is situated just next to the canal so has been almost wiped out. The majority of these families have relocated to safe houses set up by the council, where they can eat and sleep in safety, but the numbers of homeless are only rising, and today’s toll is 3,957 homeless, 84 deaths and 54 missing. Please pray for all those from the V8 community, and for us and our church O Farol as we work out how best to support these families and show them God’s love as they return and try to rebuild their lives once the rain passes.

We also live close to the canal but we live in a high-rise which means that we have been safe and protected, aside from frequent power cuts.
