A time to mourn
The CMS community are grieving the death of Rev Jane Shaw, former mission partner in Pakistan and CMS trustee; she was an ever-faithful member of our family and will be greatly missed.
Trustee meet-up
Give thanks for the CMS board of trustee meeting that took place this week and for all the women and men who serve in this way. CMS will soon be looking for new trustees to join the board; pray for this process.
Refugee Week
As World Refugee Week draws to a close, may we not forget those who have been forced to flee their own countries to escape violence and persecution. Pray that they will know God’s comfort and pray for CMS people in mission working among refugee communities across the world; this includes mission partners and local partners.
Latin America mission conference
As CMS’s Latin America forum continues to work on the preparations for the Adelante conference (30 September-1 October), pray for all of the plans to come together, for the organisation of the logistics of this hybrid event and for all those participating to be inspired to join in God’s mission at the edges.
Ecuador protests
Pray for Ecuador which has been rocked by more than a week of protests led by indigenous groups demanding fuel price reductions and an increase in education spending. Sri Lanka crisis
Continue to pray for Sri Lanka. The country’s economic crisis has caused sky high inflation and months of shortages of food, fuel, and electricity. Pray for international intervention, for the government to take the right action and for the vulnerable people that are hit the hardest.
Afghanistan earthquake
More than 1,000 people were killed in a recent earthquake. Pray for the rescue and relief work, for the people who have lost loved ones and for the general logistics of water and food to reach the survivors.
