Dave is an Anglican minister based in Romiley near Stockport. He is chaplain to the undergraduate students.

Having trained for ordination with CMS, Dave is currently completing a DTh in Practical Theology which considers the faith formation of teenagers.

Married to Rachel, they have two children and Dave’s main hobby is being their taxi service.

He also loves to read, watch sport, play board games and go walking.

Dupe Adefala is a believer in Jesus Christ by God’s grace. She is a Chevening Scholar with focus on Women in Leadership.

Dupe is chaplain to the MA students at CMS, including those on the African Christianity route.

She trained and worked as a professional accountant in Nigeria for two decades and relocated to the UK with her family in 1998 through the Highly Skilled Migrant Scheme working as Project Accountant with a global manufacturing company. 

She serves as the Pioneering Pastor at Word Fountain Christian Ministries (UK). A church and registered charity that was planted in Oxford with her family and two other families in 2002. She also serves on the Global Executive Committee of International Ministers Fellowship (IMF) overseeing the Directorate of Youth and Next Generation with her husband. 

Dupe studied Advance Diploma in Biblical and Theological Studies (ADBTS) at Regent’s Park College (Oxford University) in 2007 and MA in Pioneering Mission at Church Mission Society (CMS) accredited by University of Durham in 2019.

Dupe served as Managing Chaplain in the Immigration Detention as well as Prison Estate in the UK for over 15 years. She has a great passion for leadership, family, next generation and community action. Her favourite scripture is “Not slothful in business, fervent in the Spirit; serving the Lord!” (Romans 12:11). 

By God’s grace, she has authored a book, The Mystery of Marriage. She is married to Elder Bode Adefala and blessed with adult children – all of whom love and serve the Lord.

Mark is chaplain to the Asian Christianity MA students at CMS and is a British born Chinese priest in the Diocese of Oxford.

Mark completed his MA in Theology, Ministry and Mission at Trinity College, Bristol in 2020. His dissertation was titled ‘Prophetic Dialogue, East-Asian Theology and the Changing Voice of Mission’. 

He is founder of The Teahouse which raises the visibility and participation of Chinese-heritage clergy and laity in the Church of England. Mark is also a trustee for SPCK Publishing, and the Li Tim-Oi Foundation which provides grants to women in the Majority World to access theological training.

Mark was a recipient of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s 2023 Lambeth Award for his work in accordance with the Church’s teaching. He has written for The Canterbury Preacher’s Companion, Preach Magazine, and is a regular contributor to Premier Radio, UCB, and BBC Radio.

Mark is the vicar of St John’s, Woodley. He is married to Kayi and they have three children. He tweets @marknam.

Johnny is a well-known practitioner in the field of local and global missions. He is an entrepreneur, change consultant, and ordained minister.

He has lived or served in over 40 nations exploring the relationship between contextual mission, spiritual vitality and community practice.

He is an alumnus of CMS Pioneer Mission Training and Ripon College Cuddesdon where he studied theology and was trained for ordination.

He is a member of Middlesex University researching the significance between organisational development and community practice, focused on the connections between spirituality, systems and social impact.

He is first and foremost a seeker, husband, father, son, brother and friend. Inspired by the story of Jesus, he has a passion to explore altruism through intentional community, a way he hopes can answer the challenges of contemporary culture.

In no particular order he finds his happy place hiking in the great outdoors, watching rugby, participating in endurance sports, good coffee and homemade food, reading and writing, poetry and family road trips.

Anna is a community theologian and researcher who facilitates theological reflection and learning for leaders, congregations and Christian organisations seeking to deepen and strengthen their relationships with their local community.

She holds a Doctorate in Practical Theology and draws on learning from different disciplines including Community Development, Practical Theology and Qualitative research practices.

In both formal and informal learning environments she aims to encourage people to act in their communities with courage and humility, to be attentive to dynamics of power and inequality, and to participate in the flourishing of our communities alongside people who are different from themselves.

Anna lives in Leicester with her husband Andrew and son Noah.

Nuam Hatzaw is lecturer on the MA in Asian Christianity.

Nuam belongs to the Zomi people, a predominantly Christian ethnic minority group found primarily in Chin State, north-west Myanmar. She was born in Chin State but has spent most of her life in the UK.

Nuam did her BA in Social Anthropology and Development Studies at SOAS, University of London, and her MTh in World Christianity at the University of Edinburgh.

Her PhD examined the lived theologies of migrant 1.5 generation Zomi women and how they negotiate the sense of ‘in-betweenness’ that is generated by experiences of migration and diasporic life.

An interdisciplinary scholar with training in qualitative research methods and frameworks, her research interests include World Christianity, Asian theology, postcolonial feminist theology, Myanmar studies, social anthropology, and migration and diaspora studies.

She is co-host of the podcast Voices of World Christianity and serves as mentor and consultant for the Chin State Academic Research Network, a non-profit dedicated to promoting education and research in and from the region.

Nuam lives in Edinburgh with her husband.

Sheila is a lecturer on the African Christianity programme.

She initially started her career in journalism as a sub editor for a prominent national newspaper in The Gambia.

More recently, Sheila has made notable contributions in the fields of secondary school education and theological research.

She completed her PhD in 2019 at the University of Aberdeen, where she researched the changing landscape of the church in contemporary Scotland.

She currently resides in Glasgow with her family.

Joseph is a lecturer on the African Christianity undergraduate and MA programmes.

He holds Master’s degrees in Biblical and Pastoral Theology, as well as African Christianity from Liverpool Hope University.

Currently, he is pursuing a DTh in Practical Theology at the University of Roehampton, London.

Joseph founded the Alive Mentorship Group in 2015, a platform that provides online mentoring to teenagers and young adults with a growing global outreach to thousands of young people.

Joseph is a pastor in The Apostolic Church Liverpool, and his recent publications include Echoes: Life Lessons from an Online Village (2022), Pandemic Joy (2020), and Biblical Wisdom for Young Adults (2020).

He is blissfully married to Anu and together, they host two podcasts: Not Alone Today (for their youth outreach) and Ọmọlúàbí Podcast (where they reflect on African proverbs through the lens of the Bible).

Dr Harvey Kwiyani is African Christianity Programme Lead and Diaspora Centre Lead.

He is a Malawian missiologist and theologian who has lived, worked and studied in Europe and North America for the past 20 years.

He has researched African Christianity and African theology for his PhD, and taught African theology at Liverpool Hope University.

Harvey is also founder and executive director of Missio Africanus, a mission organisation established in 2014 as a learning community focused on releasing the missional potential of African and other minority ethnic Christians living in the UK.

Dr Cathy Ross is a lecturer and tutor with CMS Pioneer Mission Training and is a lecturer in mission at Regent’s Park College, Oxford.

She led CMS Pioneer Mission Training Oxford from 2019 to 2025, before handing over the reins to Dr James Butler.

Until 2016 she was the General Secretary of the International Association for Mission Studies.

She has previously worked in Rwanda, Congo and Uganda with NZCMS. Cathy is also canon theologian at Leicester Cathedral.

Her recent publications include Women with a Mission, Rediscovering Missionary Wives in Early New Zealand (Auckland: Penguin, 2006); Mission in the 21st Century, Exploring the Five Marks of Global Mission (ed with Andrew Walls, London: DLT, 2008); Life-Widening Mission: Global Anglican Perspectives (Oxford: Regnum, 2012); Mission in Context (with John Corrie, Ashgate, 2012); The Pioneer Gift (with Jonny Baker, London: SCM, 2014); Mission on the Road to Emmaus, (with Steve Bevans, London: SCM, 2015); Pioneering Spirituality (with Jonny Baker, London: SCM, 2015); Imagining Mission with John V Taylor (with Jonny Baker: SCM, 2020).

Her research interests are in the areas of contextual theologies, World Christianity, feminist theologies and hospitality.

She is married to Steve, a GP in Oxford and they have three children and five grandchildren. She enjoys tennis, swimming, coffee, travel and watching the All Blacks.
