Signs of hope
At the Southern Conference this year we will consider mission in different contexts, both near and far. Our speakers work in an international context here in the UK and will be sharing what God is doing.

Speaker: Ruth Sayers
Ruth says: “I seek to show Christ to those around me, to be a warming presence in an area of deprivation and disadvantage. I support unemployed people through a work club, helping people get back into work, and represent a local church at community events and meetings while also working within the church, helping with Bible studies and pastoral care.”
Speaker: Nicci Maxwell
Nicci was born and grew up in South Africa and trained as a doctor. She then moved to the UK, but nearly 20 years later and with almost a decade spent working as a consultant in neonatal medicine within the NHS, Nicci returned to Africa on a short term placement with Church Mission Society to Potter’s Village in Kisoro, Uganda. During this time she felt the strong calling, which had first begun in her teenage years, to work in “mission medicine”.
Speaker: Martin Thomas (Sat7)
Martin has worked in the charity sector for over 25 years in a variety of trustee and management roles, including CMS, World Vision UK and Viva. He is currently director of external engagement for SAT-7 UK, an international Christian media ministry bringing life-changing joy to the people of the Middle East & North Africa. Martin is also a writer, speaker and published children’s author. Find out more at www.sat7uk.org and www.martinthomas.uk.
