CMS Southern Conference

Sharing the gospel, here, there and everywhere

At the Southern Conference this year we will consider mission in different contexts, both near and far. Our speakers work in an international context here in the UK and will be sharing what God is doing in their mission fields.

Our main speaker: Janet Quarry

Janet Quarry has been with CMS since 2012 and is the executive assistant to Alastair Bateman, our CEO. She is a Baptist lay preacher and a table tennis coach. Over the last four years she has enjoyed teaching Acts by using 40 Lego men and women. Whether they will make an appearance at this conference remains to be seen!

Speaker: Andre Fonseca, church pastor

Andre Fonseca is Brazillian and has been pastor of a church in Cowley, Oxford, since 2011. The congregation is from various nationalities. He trained at the Baptist Seminary in Lisbon and in 2007 became pastor of a church in Sintra, Portugal.

Our conference chaplain: Rev Dr Judith Stephenson

Judith works as Church of England Chaplain in a multi-faith chaplaincy team at HMP Wormwood Scrubs, a category B prison. Before this, she worked as chaplain to West London YMCA, working with children in the nursery, young people in the community, young adults and the homeless. She was Anglican chaplain to the University of Hull for almost nine years following a curacy at St Matthew’s Church in Wolverhampton. While working at the university Judith met her husband, Keith.

The community: Marcio Ciechanovicz

Marcio is the CMS community mission enabler and will join us on Saturday to talk about the CMS Community.
