Join the community at Matt’s House in Hull
We are looking for more game inmates for our somewhat “wing and a prayer” Christian community house in Hull, Matt’s House, committed to supporting mission in the local community. There are presently two settled residents, but we have need for someone who would stay a while and capacity for up to four more. Singles, couples or a small family are all welcome.
The neighbourhood has a bad press but is a great place to live – lively and down to earth, with many good grassroots community ventures. The local community has plenty of untapped assets, including: a desire to be involved in something larger than individual concerns; a certain grit and tenacity that comes from living with high levels of multiple deprivation; a practical attitude to problem-solving and making ends meet (offering the potential for missional enterprise); and a particular sense of humour that comes from being hard-pressed which sees things honestly and yet holds them philosophically (a gift).
Matt’s House (formerly St Matthew’s Vicarage) is looked after by CMS mission partners Anna and Chris Hembury and managed by Hull YFC. Life here is rich and the rent is cheap!
If you have a hankering for Jesus-centred, outward-focused, theologically inclusive community living and a heart for activism and mission at the margins, come see or get in touch and find out if this particular madventure is for you!
