MISSION OPPORTUNITIES
Project Lead, Africa
Do you have gifts in administration and enjoy working cross-culturally? Are you able to bring clarity to complex projects?
We are looking for a skilled project lead to support our strategic partner in making disciples in contexts affected by armed conflict – focusing on South Sudan and DR Congo.
You will be a vital support in building a movement with input from multiple organisations, having a clear overview of strategic activities and how they come together to serve the project’s aims.
Based in South Sudan your role would include:
- Liaising with different stakeholders to track programme activities and progress
- Supporting the team to implement plans on the ground
- Compiling reports for stakeholders and funders
- Gathering stories from multiple contexts and partners to illustrate the impact of ongoing work
- Liaising with CMS and CMS-Africa especially in communications and impact reporting
- Providing administrative support
You must have a mature and living relationship with Jesus, have experience of engaging with marginalised people and of working cross-culturally. You will need experience and training in development and/or community programmes. You will be a team player, able to build relationships quickly across cultures.
Safeguarding
We are committed to the safeguarding and protection of the people we serve, our partners, our volunteers, and our staff. We believe that every child or adult we come into contact with has the right to be protected from all forms of harm and abuse. Our recruitment and selection processes are in line with our Safeguarding Policy and the SCHR Misconduct Disclosure Scheme, which CMS is a member of as part of our commitment to safeguarding.
Values
Our core values of being pioneering, relational, faithful and evangelistic are integral to everything we do, and we work hard to ensure that every member of staff is valued, supported and encouraged to continually learn and develop their skills.

To apply
Church Mission Society places individuals, couples and families in over 45 countries around the world as we seek to make disciples at the edges. Our placements are self-funding with extensive support in fundraising given to those who serve long-term (four years or longer). All placements are subject to DBS clearance. Church Mission Society is only able to directly test the calling of those who are rooted in UK/European churches.
Terms and conditions depend upon the location of each opening and the duration of the placement offered. Short-term opportunities (four months to two years) are self-funded, with CMS offering residential, cross-cultural training. Long-term mission partners serve for four to six years minimum.
