Youth worker with the indigenous church in Latin America

MISSION OPPORTUNITIES

Youth worker with the indigenous church in Latin America

Do you have a heart for helping young people discover their role in the emerging church? Are you being called to work with young people in Latin America?

We are looking for an inspiring individual or couple who can walk alongside indigenous young people in Latin America, helping them navigate the tensions between community traditions and today’s pressures.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of preparing the next generation of missionaries within the indigenous people groups of Latin America.

Ideally, you will come with an understanding of indigenous peoples, their culture and a willingness to serve, recognising that listening and learning is key to this role.

You must have a mature and living relationship with Jesus, have experience of engaging with marginalised people and be used to working on the edges of the mainstream.

You will need to have experience in youth work as well as working cross-culturally.

Fluency in Spanish would be highly desirable or a commitment to intensive language learning.

Safeguarding

We are committed to the safeguarding and protection of the people we serve, our partners, our volunteers, and our staff. We believe that every child or adult we come into contact with has the right to be protected from all forms of harm and abuse. Our recruitment and selection processes are in line with our Safeguarding Policy and the SCHR Misconduct Disclosure Scheme, which CMS is a member of as part of our commitment to safeguarding.

Values

Our core values of being pioneering, relational, faithful and evangelistic are integral to everything we do, and we work hard to ensure that every member of staff is valued, supported and encouraged to continually learn and develop their skills.

To apply

Church Mission Society places individuals, couples and families in over 45 countries around the world as we seek to make disciples at the edges. Our placements are self-funding with extensive support in fundraising given to those who serve long-term (four years or longer). All placements are subject to DBS clearance. Church Mission Society is only able to directly test the calling of those who are rooted in UK/European churches.

Terms and conditions depend upon the location of each opening and the duration of the placement offered. Short-term opportunities (four months to two years) are self-funded, with CMS offering residential, cross-cultural training. Long-term mission partners serve for four to six years minimum.
