The Nuru Craft Workshop in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania is looking for a team leader. The workshop is where men and women of varying ages and disabilities ranging from no hearing to poor mobility are taught how to make crafts, mainly using recycled materials, which can be sold to produce an income and give them the dignity of work as God intended.
Currently 13 individuals are employed, some of whom live together in the hostel next to the workshop. They meet regularly for discipleship and fellowship and see themselves as a family. We believe that the crafts they produce as a team are inspired by God and it is a joy to see what each individual is capable of – with some divine help!
The job involves: leading prayers and Bible studies; encouraging the team; managing payroll; visits to craft sales and displays; networking with other agencies; representing the organisation at strategic meetings. The candidate would ideally have experience of working with people with disabilities; be willing to learn Swahili; be committed to enabling people realise their God given potential; have some expertise or interest in arts, crafts and textiles or the ability to learn. Ideally, the candidate would be able to commit for a minimum of two years.
