Amanda Borges - Brazil

In order to contribute to the advancement of the kingdom of God, Vineyard Floripa (planted and led by mission partners Jimmy and Katia Rocks) is starting New Wine Discipleship Year, a training programme with a focus on equipping people to work with the church.

I am involved in planning and implementation of the programme as well as admin and practical issues, such as student housing, making teaching materials available, scheduling and more.

To advance the Kingdom through supporting current and future church workers as they train and explore God’s calling on their lives

More about Amanda Borges

Starting when I was eight, I went to Sunday school with my older cousins while my grandparents were at church services. When I was about 13, I accepted Jesus into my life, and was then baptised at 16.

Around that time, I started to get more involved in a mission-minded church, making mission a priority in my life. Later, I completed Discipleship Training School (DTS) with YWAM, and stayed on for four years as a team member at the YWAM base in Florianopolis and was involved in community outreach and evangelism with DTS students. After a period of training for career direction and life mission at YWAM, I did a bachelor’s degree in social sciences. I am now in the final stage of my MBA in project management at the University of Sao Paulo. My intention is to be involved in both national and cross-cultural mission.

Having the support of a mission organisation to be able to work in the Kingdom of God is truly a privilege. In Brazil, missionaries generally need to raise their own support, which can prove an added strain (I have experienced this myself). CMS’s support is such an expression of God’s care for his work.
