Chris and Suzy Wilson - Ethiopia

Since 2013, more than 300,000 people have fled from South Sudan to the Gambella region of Ethiopia. St Frumentius’ Anglican Theological College provides support and training for current and prospective church leaders from around 10 different ethnic groups, including many refugees from South Sudan and Sudan.

Since arriving in 2016, we have been involved in teaching the full-time students who are training for ordination, as well as providing ongoing training and support to existing church leaders across the region. While the college searches for a new dean, Chris is also responsible for coordinating the college’s academic programmes.

We desire to raise up and equip indigenous Christian leaders to serve rural communities in South Sudan and Ethiopia.

We are part of the leadership team at St Frumentius' Anglican Theological College in Gambella, and are involved in the provision of theological training to local church leaders.

More about Chris and Suzy Wilson

We first met at church whilst students at university. After graduating, we both spent several years teaching in challenging urban comprehensive schools. Three weeks after getting married, in 2011, we moved to a rural village in Zambia where we taught in a secondary school and lived in the local community. It was here that our eyes were opened to the challenges faced by many churches throughout rural Africa and it was here that we first felt called to serve these church communities. We then returned to the UK, where we had two children – Abigail and Matthew – and where Chris completed a masters in Biblical Studies. We moved to Gambella in August 2016 and our third child – Micah – was born in December 2017.
