Based in Guatemala City, we work with projects that engage with street-connected children, young people at risk and their families in Central America. Our main role is to provide pastoral support for the staff of Street Kids Direct and partner projects in Guatemala and Honduras. We aim to support and encourage others working in difficult urban ministries and build relational networks between them with Jesus at the centre. We believe that the transforming love and power of Jesus brings real change to every context.

Mark and Rosalie’s story

For a decade, we were involved in leading St Peter’s with St Mark’s church in Maidenhead, where Mark was vicar. Our call to Guatemala came after several visits to Central America – both to Guatemala and to Honduras. Rosalie has a degree in art and design and is also a qualified teacher of English as a foreign language.

We have two sons – Dylan, who is at university in Edinburgh, and Sam who is married to Lois and is an officer in the Metropolitan Police. Our grandson Theo was born in November 2017. Dylan, Sam and Lois have spent time in Central America and share our heart for the region.

Rosalie remembers being a member of CMS Discoverers when she was around five years old, so she has known about CMS for a long time. Since our first conversations with staff at CMS, we have felt a strong pull to serve as part of the organisation. We enjoy being connected with the church all over the world. We know that this is where Jesus wants us to be; we love CMS’s passion for sharing Jesus and setting people free.
