Nicolás Fuentes Vazquez - Chile

I am leading a group of 10 people who form a new church planting team in Puente Alto (High Bridge), South Santiago. My main role is teaching the word of God and equipping the planting team. At the same time I am focussed on founding and maintaining the vision of the future church.

The main aspects of my role in church planting are defining and maintaining the vision for the community, encouraging the team to develop a life of constant evangelism, based on intentional friendships and serving and loving our neighbours.

Another important focus of my role is to encourage and generate growth, both in the team and among those in our small communities who are not yet believers.

Call

Born into a Roman Catholic background, I started attending the Anglican church with my parents and grandparents, but did not become a Christian until I was 22. I heard the gospel at a Christian event, and after that experience I started a new life with Christ.

More about Nicolás Fuentes Vazquez

I was born into a Roman Catholic background family. No one went to church until my parents and grandparents were invited to a married couples' retreat organised by a local Anglican church. After that the family all stayed at that church, but in spite of attending services I didn’t become a Christian until I was 22, when I went to a Christian event and heard the message of the gospel.

I started a new life after that experience and met my wife when we were both involved in serving the Lord. It was a slow process of learning and maturing in the faith for me. I had a two year ministry training period at my church, then my wife and I studied at the CEP Anglican seminary in Santiago for two more years.

When the Lord saved me in 2006 I remember saying "Lord, use me as you wish." Now, by his grace and immense faithfulness and in spite of my weakness, he has brought me to Puente Alto church plant to make his name known here.

It is a great privilege and responsibility for me to be part of Church Mission Society. I really appreciate belonging to such a great community of servants of the gospel, committed to supporting others in prayer and finances, so that Christ may be known in places such as Chile.
