My passion lies in engaging with society in a holistic mission, bringing transformation, which builds up the common good from the perspective of faith. This results in evangelistic engagement with the business world where the lordship of Christ and the kingdom of God is hoped for and worked out.

My primary mission is to enhance human well-being and help meet the basic human needs of all people, with particular attention to the needs and empowerment of people who are vulnerable, oppressed, and living in poverty.

  • Sudan: peace and stability

Bishop Hassan James, a local partner, asks for prayer for peace and stability in Sudan. Pray for the war to cease, and food and necessary supplies to reach those affected. Pray for God’s protection for all those who are displaced and pray for the message of the gospel to be spread, especially now while people… Read more

Rachel’s story

I am a born-again Christian married to Pastor Joseph Karanja Ribiro and blessed with three children. In 2008, I joined Church Mission Society-Africa as a CMS representative and became the chief executive director of Greenspan Biotechnologies Ltd and was appointed to coordinate an anaerobic biodigester (ABD) project which was geared towards community transformation.

Since then I have replicated the same project in other places in both Kenya and Africa. Some places I have visited with the same vision include Nigeria, and the Republic of South Sudan where I miraculously survived a plane crash.

In 2008, we planted a church under Karura Community Chapel currently known as Karura Community Chapel-Kabuku. In 2013, I suffered stroke, which left my left side partially paralysed. I am currently a third-year student at St Paul’s University Limuru, studying a degree in community development as I carry on with the gospel of transformation.

As a CMS-Africa representative, my main role is linking individuals and communities with the available resources and to advocate for development in case of the absence of the required resources. We empower clients to become economically sufficient through job training, education, financial planning, and linking them to community resources.

I am a part of CMS-Africa because CMS collaborates with people who are like-minded in their mission towards community transformation through spiritual nourishment, and socio-economic development as guided by the gospel teaching in Luke 19:10 and Matthew 22 (about being good stewards) in the endeavour of discipling nations. I ascribe to the same values and principles.

CMS-Africa has a vision of renewed mindsets and transformed communities in its mission of equipping and multiplying leaders in church and society with the aim of transforming nations guided by principles of putting God first in all my endeavours.

As a practitioner, I must demonstrate ongoing commitment to community transformation as I am guided by CMS’s principles and values. I am part of CMS-Africa because CMS-Africa focuses on discipling nations with the gospel of Jesus Christ and blessing the lives of many. We work together to build on the strengths of leaders and communities locally and globally by mobilising local and global resources to enhance change and enable leaders and communities to lead full and productive lives.
