African Christianity route

African Christianity route

Thanks to a creative partnership between Church Mission Society and Missio Africanus, those involved in ministry to or alongside African Christians can join a unique learning programme both at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

The African Christianity route through the Certificate or MA courses combines the best of CMS’s experience of pioneering mission and ministry and Missio Africanus’ experience of resourcing non-western missionaries involved in mission work in the West (and in Africa).

Who is the African Christianity route is for?

Lecturer Joseph Ola explains.

“Studying with CMS has been stretching and exciting. I’ve loved meeting so many other believers from all walks of life. Together we have learned how wide and how deep is God’s love and his witness across the globe.”

Application requirements and programme structure

These are the same as outlined on the undergraduate programme and postgraduate programme pages, with the exception that African Christianity focused courses are taught fully online.

The Certificate or MA can be focused towards mission and ministry from an African perspective by choosing the modules which are outlined below.

Modules

Level 4 (Undergraduate)
Level 7 (Postgraduate)

“I hope this Master’s will help empower and equip the African church in Britain and that will help in the re-evangelisation of Britain.

“But I’m also excited that we are creating an intentional space within CMS where African and British students can learn together and learn from each other.”

“The hope is that with this Master’s, putting together Africans and British Christians, we create a movement that will be able to articulate what’s going on for the wider body of Christ.

“We’re hoping to create a movement of post-colonial missionaries who will be able to work across cultures and races.”
