Northern Mission Centre
The Northern Mission Centre encourages creative and innovative mission. Our flagship course in collaboration with Church Mission Society offers an authentically Northern approach for those looking to explore creative mission.
A collaboration between
The Northern Mission Centre is collaboration between CMS and the Diocese of Carlisle, and part of the Cumbria-wide ecumenical initiative God for All.
We know that the more creative we are in how we do training and support, the more creative people are in their local situation. This has helped to foster a missional ecosystem that is supportive, relational, giving and creative.
We are pioneering at heart, supporting both Time Honoured and Fresh Expressions (FX) of church across all denominations to reach deeper into the communities they serve in Cumbria and the North.
Courses on offer
CMS Certificate in Pioneer Mission
The course is run over six teaching weekends taught by experienced local and national tutors, with small groups in between.
Five of the teaching weekends are based in Penrith, which is strategically positioned to be accessible to the majority of the population in the North of England and South of Scotland. The sixth is a weekend residential.
In addition, the Northern Mission Centre offers other training opportunities. See their website for details.
“…being on the pioneer course has been great because I don’t fit into traditional church structures.”
