Cry out, “Save us, God our Saviour; gather us and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name, and glory in your praise.” 1 Chronicles 16:35 NIV

Latin America

Peru: prayer for the nation

This week, we request prayer for our people in mission working in Peru: local partners David Gonzales and Anderson Sanchez and mission partners Anna Sims, Pat Blanchard and Paul and Sarah Tester. Pray also for Peru itself, for God to bring lasting peace after many years of corruption and dictatorships.

Bolivia: new interim president

Please continue to pray for Bolivia and our people in mission there (Andrew and Lisa Peart, Franklin Cuenca, Walter Toro). Within the last week an audit of the vote by the Organization of American States found that there had been fraud in the recent elections. The incumbent President, Evo Morales has since resigned and been given asylum in Mexico. A new interim President, Jeanine Áñez has been appointed and protests and strikes in many areas have been lifted. However there are concerns that there may be problems with elected members of Morales’ MAS party as they hold the majority in the legislative assembly and his supporters have been protesting in some areas saying a coup has occurred. Please pray for peace and reconciliation, for a good transition to fresh elections and for unity in Bolivia. (More info at BBC News )

Argentina: electoral synod

Remember in prayer the electoral synod in the Diocese of Argentina on Saturday 16 November as they choose a new assistant bishop who will become the new diocesan bishop in 2021. Pray for the right candidate to be chosen and for God’s leading and blessing upon them.

South Asia: baby on the way!

A couple in mission in South Asia report that baby number three is due around May next year. Please pray specifically for a smooth pregnancy and birth, as this pregnancy may be a bit more complicated than the couple’s first two pregnancies.

South Asia: conference

Please pray for a local partner and mission partner who have travelled from South Asia to Istanbul for a conference which runs until Tuesday. Please pray specifically for safety and general health while travelling, for the Lord’s leading in all their conversations and connections, for receiving all that God has for them and for much fruit that lasts from the gathering.

Burundi: women’s training

Give thanks for CMS-Africa’s recent women’s training in Rumonge diocese, led by local partner Salvator Nkorerimana and Stephen Mosheni. Pray for the 20+ participants to be able to put into practice what they have learned, and begin to experience godly transformation in every area of their lives as a result.

Rwanda: English-speaking service at Gahini Cathedral

Having hoped to start a regular English-speaking service at Gahini Cathedral with Rwandan colleague John, mission partner Stephen Bennett has recently encountered more setbacks. John has had to pull out of the project, and Godfrey, who has taken over, lives further away, making things more challenging. Additionally, the cathedral was beautifully decorated for the inauguration of Bishop Manasseh with fabric covering the walls. This prevents the use of the wall for projection, meaning the congregation is unable to follow Bible readings, read song lyrics or watch videos. Despite discussions with the bishop, a solution has not been found. Please pray for a resolution to this situation.

Europe, Middle East and North Africa

Lebanon: Kurdish refugees

Mission partners Phil and Sylvie Good don’t speak Arabic yet, but are supporting the Church in the Middle East through communicating love for their friends and the love of Jesus in other ways. Please pray for comfort for Kurdish refugees, and for Phil and Sylvie’s presence to remind people of the message they have already heard in their spirit.

Britain: fresh fruit…

Mission partner Michael Green reports that at long last he has got some discipleship work set up for doing migrant ministry in Ipswich where he is based. He is also in the process of organising training events here for MBB (Muslim-background believer) evangelism and discipleship courses. Please pray for all these things to grow.

Britain: A Rocha family

Thank you for praying for the A Rocha family and the families of Miranda and Peter Harris and Chris and Susanna Naylor. Please pray for special grace for mission partner Dave Bookless as he leads the memorial service for Chris and Susanna Naylor on 18 November at 2.30 at St John’s Burford. (There is no date yet for Miranda Harris’ funeral as that depends on when Peter Harris can return to the UK.)
