DR Congo: conflict and peacebuilding
This week, church leaders, people in mission and others met for an online consultation addressing the issue of conflict in DR Congo. Pray for God to use this consultation to start a movement that will help bring peace to this war-torn country.
Burundi: successful training
Local partner Onesphore Ndayizigamiye writes that recently, 14 people completed CMS-Africa’s Financial Freedom for Families training and 35 women completed the women’s empowerment training. Praise God for this training that has taken place and pray for it to have a real impact in each person’s life going forward.
South Asia: COVID-19
Please continue to pray for B, brother-in-law of a local partner, who is very unwell with COVID-19. He has been improving but do pray for continued healing. His wife and their son have also tested positive but only have mild symptoms. Pray for them as a family and for B to get the medical care he needs.
South East Asia: moving towards making ends meet
As things re-open in their country, mission partners in South East Asia ask for prayer for the economy to be able to grow and for people to be able to make ends meet again. Pray also for Celebrate Recovery groups to be able to start meeting in person again soon to better support people recovering from addiction.
Europe, Middle East and North Africa
Lebanon: ongoing crisis
Please pray for Lebanon, where an immense economic and political crisis continues. According to the UN, 74 per cent of Lebanon’s population is now living in poverty. Pray for urgent change. Pray too for the rains to come – A Rocha Lebanon have been unable to plant 250 trees and much of the arable land is currently too dry to sow a winter crop.
Middle East: visiting
Pray for local partner Medhat, who will be travelling to various countries in the Middle East and visiting partners. Pray for safety, protection from COVID-19 and for Medhat to be an encouragement and help to those he meets.
Please pray for comfort and special grace for mission partner Sarah Shehadi as she clears her family apartment after the death of her mother before travelling to Lebanon this Sunday.
In the context of the recent agreements at COP26, increased rates of deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon and polarised views over proposed mine closures due to environmental concerns in Peru, remember in prayer the indigenous peoples of Latin America who are often the most aware of the impacts of human activity on creation. As CMS continues to walk with indigenous peoples and the indigenous church in Latin America, please pray for our next time of dialogue on Tuesday 30 November and for the development of new ways to serve in mission together.
Chile and Honduras: elections
Please continue to pray for elections across the region as Hondurans go to the polls on Sunday 28 November for presidential elections. Chile’s presidential election last Sunday has gone to a second round on 19 December so please continue to pray for the right candidates to be selected by voters.
Haiti: ongoing hostage situation
Praise God that two of the 17 missionary hostages from Christian Aid Ministries were released by the gang holding them in Haiti. Pray for the remaining hostages to be released soon.
