Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27 (NIV)
Europe, Middle East and North Africa
Romania: prayer for the nation
Officially a republic since 1991, Romania’s population of 20 million is still recovering from the damage caused by 42 years of communist rule. Pray for healing for the many spheres of life still affected by the damage caused during this time, and for Jesus’ truth to replace wrong ways of thinking and seeing the world. Pray for revival among nominal Orthodox Christians; for Jesus’ love to be expressed in new ways and reach new people throughout the nation.
Please also pray for our local partner in Romania, Sergiu Bradean.
Britain: four new mission partners
Give thanks that following a selection conference last weekend, four new mission partners have been selected. Bev Richardson, transitioning from CMS’s enhanced short-term programme to mission partner status, will continue her work in Paraguay, while Ultan is likely to work in our Europe, Middle East and North Africa region. Finally, married couple Ara and Jahnn will be serving in either Latin America or Asia. Praise God that each one of these new mission partners brings a variety of experiences and a richness in their expression of spirituality and worship to CMS.
Kenya: conference 2019
Please pray for the planning for the next joint people in mission conference that will be held in Nairobi. The planning is being coordinated by a team comprising CMS-Africa’s cross-cultural missions manager Karobia Njogu and CMS’s regional manager for Africa Stephen Burgess. Pray for the planning team as they seek to plan a conference which offers times for joint training and reflection and the opportunity to explore collaboration between the two mission agencies as well as rest and recreation for missionaries and opportunities for fellowship between people affiliated with CMS-Africa and CMS.
South Sudan: Chaima Christian Institute
Please pray for mission partner Lynn Treneary serving at Chaima Christian Institute, where students began their end-of-semester exams this week. Pray for Bishop Moses, for All Saints Cathedral, and all who minister or worship there. Pray for the work of renovation of the cathedral, the missionary house and house of the dean. Pray for the displaced Christians who are living around the cathedral area.
Sudan: new baby
Local partner James Hassan and his wife Nusa were blessed with a daughter, Ythra, on 17 June. Praise God for this healthy baby and ask for God’s continued protection over her life.
Spain: moving mountains in prayer
Local partner Noel Diaz reports that a lady in his congregation called Maria asked for prayer as she and her three children were going through a difficult economic, spiritual and work situation. The whole congregation gathered around her and prayed every Sunday for three weeks, and by the glory of God, the problems were solved. God had heard the church’s prayers and had acted with power in her life and in her family. This has motivated the congregation to form an intercession group. Pray for God to continue to meet with this group in prayer and to do something new in this church.
Chile: ministry apprentice
Local partner Nicolas Fuentes took on a ministry apprentice called Emanuel for two years starting in January. Emanuel has a strong call to pastoral ministry, and Nicolas’ role is to support and mentor Emanuel as he dedicates himself to full-time service in the church, learning and teaching and discipling others. Please pray for Nicolas and Emanuel as they seek to serve the church and learn from each other and from God.
Nepal: reaching “untouchables”
G and M are reaching out to almost 150 children from an“untouchable” people group. They have started a free learning centre for these children (who have no other opportunity for schooling), offering free clothes and school supplies. Praise God that a door has opened to reach this group; pray for God to open their hearts. Pray for God to guide G and M as they seek him and his direction for this work.
