Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.Psalm 55:22 (NIV)

Next week (4–6 February) 30+ students on the Master of Arts in Christian Studies programme will start their first module, for which F is the main facilitator. The following week (8–12 February) F is teaching a module on spiritual formation to Salvation Army Officers.
Rwanda: effects of COVID-19 on churches
Mission partners Catriona and Steve Bennett write that coronavirus in Rwanda was minimal until Christmas, but that since December, numbers of cases have been rising. With churches forced to remain closed for the time being, times are hard financially for church leaders who rely on Sunday giving. Pray for God to work in this difficult situation.
Across the region: vaccines and lockdowns
Paul Tester, mission development manager for Latin America, asks: “Pray for all those countries across the region struggling to access vaccines. A number of Latin American countries have still not had any vaccine arrive yet, while vaccination programmes rapidly advance across many countries in the global north. Pray that those who most need vaccines in Latin America will receive them soon.
“As a second round of lockdowns occurs in parts of Latin America pray for those who earn their living day to day and who will be most adversely affected by being unable to go out. Pray for God’s provision and for wisdom for countries leaders in making very difficult decisions.”
Europe, Middle East and North Africa
North Africa: settling back in
Mission partners who returned to North Africa a couple of months ago write that their kids have settled back into life there very well. Praise God for this news as well as for good health and the fact that homeschool and nursery are both going very well. After much back and forth and paperwork, pray for their children’s residency application to be accepted.
Britain: resourcing church leaders
The Partnership for Missional Church team at CMS are helping to run a workshop for church leaders on 2 February, considering change and the challenge of the pandemic. Pray that participants will be encouraged, equipped and have time and space to reflect on the changes they are facing in their own contexts through COVID-19 and beyond.
