Prayer News 29 November 2019

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

Africa

DR Congo: prayer for the nation

Pray for DR Congo, one of Africa’s largest countries, with a population of over 80 million, as they fight an Ebola epidemic while still trying to recover from years of trauma and war. Pray for a stable national government that operates out of God’s wisdom and for followers of Jesus to offer examples of true reconciliation at personal and national level.

Please also pray for our people in mission in DR Congo; local partners Bisoke Balikenga, Jean Bosco Tshiswaka, Jeff Sikabwe and mission partners Patricia and Peter Wyard.

Asia

Nepal: visa issues

Andrea and Andrew Young write: “Part of life here means there is always conflict of some sort; for us, our visa situation causes us to feel conflicted. A work visa for Andrew is in process but Andrea now has to go on a dependant visa and rules around these are now very restricting. Please pray into this.”

Malaysia: new schools

Pray for Kate and Tim Lee who are still settling in in Kuala Lumpur. Pray for the family to establish a network of friends and begin to be part of a community. Pray for their children; for Grace to find some good friends and a school where she can be happy and flourish, for God to use James mightily in his football coaching and for Rebekah (studying in the UK); for her faith to remain strong and that she will continue to enjoy her course.

Europe, Middle East and North Africa

Spain: school

Felipe and Sarah Yanez ask for prayer for their sons, Sam and Aaron, and their studies at the local high school. Please pray for good, positive relationships to be built with others from the Christian community and that God will raise up people with a heart to engage with the very many disillusioned young people here. Pray also for fresh motivation for the teachers.

Britain: Wolf Fields events

Please also pray for Kailean and Kim Khongsai in their work of creation care, and for fruit from the upcoming events at Wolf Fields: the volunteers’ advance Christmas meeting (7 December) and the nature and prayer walk (14 December).

Latin America

Ecuador: opposition from many angles

Short-termers Andy and Jessica Lynch have been attacked from various angles recently; their laptop has given up, they have had issues with their water and water pump, and suddenly had to replace the fridge/freezer, in addition to the political unrest in the country, which caused them to be stranded in Quito for several days. They ask for prayer for peace for Ecuador and for wisdom for the president in his choices. Please also pray for Andy, Jessica and their daughter Frankie’s health, as they have all been unwell, and pray for protection against further attacks and obstacles.

Paraguay: mission partners finishing

Peter and Sally Bartlett have returned to the UK having finished service in Paraguay. Pray for those involved in the process of appointing a new bishop, and for Peter and Sally as they seek God for what’s next; for wisdom to say yes to the right things, and for wisdom to say no to everything else.
