The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.

Lamentations 3:22–23 (NLT)

South Africa: reworking teaching certificate programme

Caroline and Dick Seed have both been busy reworking the teaching certificate programme so that it can be delivered online via Moodle, adapting it to ensure it achieves its outcomes through reading rather than listening and practice. Two of the institutions Caroline and Dick planned to work with this year have asked for online delivery, so they hope to be able to arrange dates with them soon. Please pray for the successful completion of the writing.

Latin America

Paraguay: mission partners quarantining

Praise God that Tim Curtis arrived safely in Paraguay and has completed his two weeks’ quarantine COVID-19 free. Pray for Bev Richardson who is due to travel to Paraguay this weekend and will also need to quarantine in a “health hotel” for 2 weeks on her arrival. Pray for safe travels and for low numbers of COVID-19 in Paraguay to continue.

Chile: run-up to elections

Alf Cooper asks for continued prayers for Chile which is experiencing protests in the run-up to a national vote in October as to whether to have a new constitution. Protests both against and in favour of the government threaten to paralyse the country while the COVID-19 pandemic remains a serious threat and continues to cause economic hardship.

South East Asia: last chance for L’s school

Mission partners A and L ask for continued prayer for L’s school, set to reopen on 7 September, which is the last possible minute to save the school. Pray for students to return, and for stamina and energy for all the teachers, especially L.

India: floods

Pray for the approx. 25 million people affected by floods in India, where relief efforts are severely hampered by COVID-19 restrictions. Over 1,300 people have died and millions have been suffering for weeks with disaster relief efforts unable to reach them. Pray for God to make ways for relief to reach those who need it and for wisdom and protection for those working in this area.

South East Asia: sleep

Pray for K and T and their four children. T has been struggling to get into a healthy sleep routine (possibly an after-effect of having had COVID-19 in January). Pray for T to have better sleep so he can fully recover and have more energy.

Europe, Middle East and North Africa

Romania: gathering together as a church

Local partner Sergiu Bradean writes from Constanta that his church was able to start meeting together in person again in July (observing social distancing rules). Sergiu writes that the virus spreads very quickly in Romania and many churches have had to close because some of their members were infected. Please pray that Sergiu’s church will be able to keep meeting, and that other churches will be able to reopen.

UK: restrictions being lifted

Pray for the UK as restrictions are gradually relaxed while the government is poised to announce a new nationwide lockdown if a second wave of coronavirus hits the nation. Pray for wisdom for the government as they make difficult decisions and work to serve a coronavirus-fatigued people.
